Biofilters and Biofiltration

Biofilters made by Ecoimpianti Technologies consist of a parallelepiped-shaped or cylindrical tank, the former being made of concrete, modular elements, or PP (moplen), and the latter being made of PP.
Biofilters can be closed for a specific emission, or opened for emissions along the entire filtration surface.
The biofilter is essentially made up of a layer of filtering material that sits on a bed composed of grids, supported by legs. Under this bed is a plenum, which guarantees the uniform distribution and the correct, low-speed passage of the air to be treated.
The contact surface of the filtering material is formed from a grill of modular tiles (500 x 500 mm) made of polypropylene reinforced with glass fibre and H supports , which are also made of polypropylene reinforced with glass fibre 300 mm / 500 mm high. The designed static load of such flooring is 3000 kg/sqm.
The flooring on which the H supports will be placed should normally have a minimum gradient to best convey the percolation liquids through the drainage pipes. The air to be treated will be collected and conveyed through the pipes (galvanised or stainless steel or polypropylene or PVC), by the use of fans and sent if necessary first to a pre-treatment and then into the plenum of the biofilter.
